Sam Muhindo and His Friends; What Teachers Say…..

Author: Yesigye Brian

There is a lot of curiosity about Sam Bright Muhindo, Elvis Bwire, and Acleo Muwanguzi about their life at their school, Namuwaya Education Centre in Kirinnya- Bweyogere.

These famous quotes communicate something about where they have been and where they are heading in their new chapter of life…..

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.”

Celebrate endings—for they precede new beginnings.”

No matter how hard the past is, you can always begin again.”

Every day is a chance to begin again.

Bwire Elvis Could be a Civil Engineer

According to his Primary Two, Class Teacher, Nakiwala Sharifah, in Bwire lie a very disciplined being, conservatively raised up!

“He is very disciplined compared to others in his class, he knows what to say and what not to say when and where. Here, is so quiet but his friends try to interact with him and teach him English,” she said.

However, Teacher Nakiwala sees something exceptional about Bwire, he could make a good Engineer in the future.

“Right now he is competing with the best, very curious and Mathematics is his best subject, I see a Civil Engineer in Bwire though he is still struggling with reading he will change,” says Teacher Nakiwala

The 9- year- old Bwire was barefooted before he became viral on social media, clad in an oversize blue shirt and a navy blue shorts admiring a fellow age mate on the banner attached to the Bravo Shoes van, Bwire was a student of Walyembwa Primary School, Bumahna Sub-county, Luuka District in Eastern Uganda and he used to stay with his 76-year-old grandmother Ruth Tebaryala.

Bwire is described by the Head Teacher Namuwaya Education  Centre as a discipline traditionally brought up children compared to other students in his class.

They say Bwire was supposed to fall back in Primary One but his level of maturity and the love for education bailed him. Meanwhile, he has defied the odds. He came speaking Lusoga and some broken Luganda.

Sam Bright Muhindo could make a great leader, says Class Teachers Nambusi Sharon and Cherengat Juliet.

Hailing from the little-known rural village in Bwera, Kasese, South Eastern, the 6 – year- old Sam had never seen a blackboard.

According to his teachers, Muhindo joined Baby Class in the middle of the term and he has since never looked back

“He is a bright boy!” described Teacher Cherengat; “He came in the middle of the term but pick up very fast. He is so friendly, he interacts with fellow learners very well. What I see, he has leadership skills,” says Cherengat.

According to the Head Teacher, Namiiro Jesca, Muhindo is a gifted boy, he only needs to be polished, “So intelligent!” he described.

Teachers say Muhindo came in speaking Ihukhonzo, his first language but barely months he can speak Kiswahili, broken Luganda, and can understand and communicate in English.

“He can express himself well especially if he discovers you can speak his language,” said the Head Teacher.

 Acleo Muwanguzi is a sportsman

Yes! the dream to become a doctor or a mechanic is still valid, however, his teachers see a 12-years-old Muwanguzi, with a bright future in sports activities.

His Class Teacher Namyalo Winnie says that the boy is gradually improving in performance.

She described him as a disciplined boy and he has never been caught in any trouble.

Muwanguzi’s favorite subject is English and he has since been speaking fluently with loving something he never knew before.

“He easily associates with everyone, he has a bright future and he will succeed in life,” she said.

According to the Head Teacher, Muwanguzi is a humble boy and his background tells a lot about his daily behavior. He is so active in co-curricular activities at school.

Their Matron Kyarisiima Scovia describes his boys as good listeners and disciplined learners.
