Bravo Shoes Ltd has been nominated for the prestigious Corporate Citizenship Awards, hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
These awards have been recognizing impactful corporate citizenship initiatives for 25 years, celebrating companies that leverage their talent and resources to foster progress and improve communities.
Bravo Shoes Ltd was nominated for its excellence in corporate citizenship through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Bravo Shoes Community Support Organisation (BSCS).
This nomination highlights their project aimed at improving access to early education for children in Bulambuli District, Eastern Uganda.
In a statement from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the nomination was praised for its innovative approach to addressing community challenges: “It’s inspiring to see such outstanding examples of how the business community is leveraging its expertise to help solve our most pressing challenges,” the committee remarked.
However, despite Bravo’s strong nomination under the Best Commitment to Education Program category, it was not selected as a finalist for the 2024 awards. The Chamber’s finalists this year include global giants such as DuPont and Samsung Electronics America, alongside other notable organizations making strides in education, health, sustainability, and disaster response.
Michael Carney, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, noted the importance of these awards: “The Citizens Awards highlight companies that turn challenges into opportunities, building stronger, more resilient communities.”
While Bravo Shoes Ltd did not make it to the final list, its nomination underscores its dedication to community development, particularly in empowering vulnerable children through education. Yesigye Brian Bravo, the organization’s founder, has been a key figure in these efforts, also being recognized among Africa’s top 100 Change Makers in 2023 for his contributions to child education in Uganda.
The Bravo Shoes Community Support Organisation continues to receive accolades for its work, including the Most Empowering Children’s Organisation award in Uganda as part of the 2023 African Excellence Awards.
This recognition reflects its broader impact on children’s lives, focusing on education, healthcare, and empowerment across various regions.
Additionally, in 2024, the organization won the “Excellence in Community Service Award” at the Mentorship and Volunteerism Excellence Awards in Ghana, further demonstrating its dedication to creating positive change across Africa.
Your approach of doing work is creating hope. Let the sky be the limit.
